Beer + Beyond in Las Vegas, NV

Beer + Beyond in Las Vegas, NV

Vegas, baby, Vegas, am I right?

I recently spent some time road tripping from San Diego through Nevada and found myself surprised at all of the great craft beer spots in Sin City. If the hustling and bustling LV strip isn’t your thing, I’ve got plenty of off-the-beaten-path options for you to explore in and around Vegas.

Here’s a roundup of some top spots!

BEER + BARS

Able Baker Brewing - With a yellow rubber ducky as their mascot and a huge list of different styles of beer, what’s not to love? Super friendly people and they even have food + happy hour pricing!

Beer Zombies - What started as a beer brand has taken over Vegas with several locations of their taproom/bottle shop concept. They most recently bought one of the OG breweries in the area, Tenaya Creek brewing (a brew partner of theirs for some time). Check them out!

CraftHaus - Any spot with a slow pour pils has my heart! We especially liked their barrel aged beers as well. Great service with a smile.

Silver Stamp - This beautifully curated new age dive bar serves up unique draft beer and rare bottles in a place that looks just like grandpa’s basement, old school beer signs and all. Great energy behind the bar!

Atomic Liquors - This is the oldest bar in Old Vegas. Cocktails, craft beer, and tasty food flows freely. You won’t miss this spot due to their dope old school neon signs!

The Golden Tiki - Unassumingly in a run-down strip mall, this stunner sits as one of the coolest tiki bars I’ve been to. They offer happy hour as well and be sure to snap a photo inside the oyster shell! #iykyk

Aces & Ales - Don’t let the suburban-like location fool you! This sportsbar-style spot boasts 50 taps, cocktails + food and they definitely had some super rare beers to offer. Their bartenders were very friendly to boot!

Beer Park - Although this is owned by Budweiser, so not craft, it’s at Paris Hotel and on a rooftop and you can watch the Bellagio fountains go hard while you enjoy the sunshine at one of their two huge outdoor bars. We stopped in on St. Patrick’s Day for a Guinness and a snack!

FOOD

Pink Box donuts - At the very end of Fremont Street sits a very, very sweet treat. My personal faves were the Nutella and the blueberry cookie donut!

Amano - Off the strip, in an actual strip mall, sits a tiny place where you can order a Fat Baby, a huge cone of bread stuffed with pasta, meat, sauce and all the fixings! You have to see it to believe it. Reservations reco’d.

Partage - If you’re looking for extra fine dining off the strip, check out this amazing elevated French-inspired coursed-meal experience. Gorgeous interiors and phenomenally-prepared and plated food plus wine pairings, too.

NATURE / THINGS TO SEE + DO

Valley of Fire State Park - Some of the most gorgeous red rock formations are about 1:15 from the strip. Take the day trip and hike either the Fire Wave + Seven Wonders trail or Mouse’s Tank. You may even see some petroglyphs! Be prepared for sand/dust if it’s windy, and know that cell signal is spotty. Bring lots of water, too!

The Seven Magic Mountains - Add a pop of color or seven to your trip by visiting this beaming-boulder art installation set against the neutral backdrop of the dry Mojave desert. Free entry, just try and go during off hours or it’s crowded!

High Roller Observation Wheel - Don’t just visit Vegas - experience it from the top! Right on the strip you’ll find this enclosed, globe-like ferris wheel where you can take in the vivid Vegas views. Pro tip: Get the happy hour tickets to enjoy your very own private bar along the ride! Ride time is approx 35 minutes.

Hoover Dam + Lake Mead - Not far from the strip you can escape for some gorgeous views of the breathtaking Dam and too-blue-to-be-true lake. There are several different hikes at Lake Mead - I recommend using the All Trails app to find one that suits you!

The Fabulous Las Vegas sign - Located a mile from Mandalay Bay, at the very south end of the strip, it’s a must to have your photo taken with the (cool yet cheesy) “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign!

Red Rock Canyon - This stunning spot has timed entry, so be sure to book beforehand. Highly recommend for beautiful vistas and hiking! Very easy to get to and nice to drive through if you don’t have time (or energy) to hike!
