Local So-Cal Breweries You Need to Visit: Part 1
Everyone knows that Southern California is home to some heavy hitters like AleSmith, Modern Times and Stone Brewing. But part of drinking local also means supporting small businesses, so I’ve uncovered a few can’t-miss gems that have become local favorites.
Burgeon Brewing
Burgeon originated in Carlsbad and has since expanded into San Diego. They’re slaying the haze game and you can find their cans all over Southern California. Plus, their beertenders are super nice and always serve up their tasty brews with a smile.
Mujeres Brew House
Women and Latinx-owned, the goal at Mujeres is to create an inclusive culture to empower and educate those who have passion for the craft. I love their Horchata golden stout - and how they often host local makers at their beer events.
North Park Beer Co.
Perfectly situated on a bustling corner in one of San Diego’s hippest neighborhoods, North Park, sits North Park Beer Co. Locals and beer nerds alike know them for their award-winning Hop-Fu! IPA and popular barrel aged stouts.
Refuge Brewery
Known for their modern take on the Belgian style and their award-winning blood orange wit, the Refuge owners also have a hand in designing brewing equipment for Stone Brewing, Trillium and other big-name breweries. If you stop in, you may even be lucky enough to meet my friend Ally.
WestBrew
Stunning interiors combine with deliciously fresh beers to create an experience for all of the senses. I’ve been lucky enough to hang with the he husband and wife owners, and they’re looking to expand, so soon there will be even more WestBrew coming to a neighborhood near you.
Stay tuned for Part 2 of this series where I uncover even more local breweries in Southern California!
